Established in the early 1900’s, the Harley Davidson Company has over 100 years worth of history for visitors to view and enjoy. The museum was opened in July 2008 and attracts around 300,000 visitors each year from all over the world. The twenty acre site is close to the interstate, making it easy for a quick visit if you have time to kill on the way to the airport. However the museum receives great reviews from visitors of all ages, plus there is so much to see, so it may be worth dedicating at least a few hours to take in more of what the Harley Davidson museum has to offer.

Harley Davidson Museum info - The complex itself cost an estimated $75 million to construct and comprises of 500 car parking spaces and 1000 motorbikes. The 5 metre tall Harley Davidson sign outside of the museum lets you know you’ve arrived and gives just a small feeling of what grand things there are to see inside. There are regular exhibits and permanent displays within the galleries, as well as a popular restaurant, museum store, shop and café. Harley Davidson memorabilia in the form of motorcycles, adverts, apparel, photographs, posters, trophies, vintage video displays and interactive displays all play their part in telling the visitor about the Harley Davidson story and how it’s developed over a whole Century. You don’t have to be a Harley Davidson enthusiast to enjoy what this museum has to offer - there is enough to keep all family members interested and engaged.

The different models of the five Harley Davidson ranges (Sportster, Softail, Touring, Dyna and Revolution) are all there to be seen, with examples of really old bikes and more recent ones too - there are even some that you can sit on in the museum! Its interesting walking through the chronological history of the Company’s development and seeing how a small motorcycle business went from a modest small wooden shed in a family backyard, to the top US motorcycle manufacturer they are today. If the motorcycles don’t tickle your fancy, there are accessories, collectibles and apparel to look through, after all Harley Davidson is in the top 100 global brands in the world.

Harley Davidson Museum info - For the budding Harley Davidson enthusiasts, the museum displays a club and competition gallery which details their racing history and successes. The museum also shows how motorcycles work through interactive touch screen displays and an historic engine taken apart, so you can see each component separately. Though, the focal point for many visitors is the oldest Harley Davidson in the museum which is named ‘Serial Number One’ and positioned in a glass container with accompanying illuminations. This bike dates back to 1903-1904 era.
