Harley Davidson Tires - Lots Of Choice
Every Harley Davidson motorcycle needs a set of tires, and if you get good use out of your bike then you may need to renew your tires regularly to ensure that they are safe and road worthy. It is often the law to have a certain amount of tread on your tires, so if they have be worn down by long journeys, wheel-spins and endo’s it may be a good idea to buy some new Harley Davidson tires to support you and your bike and keep you safe (as well as law-abiding). The good news is, there are lots to choose from and what with top tire companies competing with each other in the vehicular marketplace, technology and enhancements are improving the quality of tires every year.
Harley Davidson Tires - Dunlop And Michelin
The tires you can buy from Harley Davidson are made in conjunction with two globally famous individual tire companies. The majority of tires offered on the Harley Davidson website are made by Dunlop; however there are also a range made by Michelin. More recently (2010), Harley Davidson and Michelin joined forces to create a new tire called the Scorcher 31. There are a huge range of tires available for Harley Davidson motorcycles and these can be bought quite easily on-line of at your local dealership. Not only does the Harley Davidson website advertise these tires, but you can also purchase them directly from Dunlop or Michelin. The tires available are split into the five families on the Harley Davidson website (Sportster, Softail, Dyna, VRSC and Touring).
Harley Davidson Tires - D407 And D408
The Harley Davidson Dunlop tire series has been running for decades and the partnership is a strong one. Harley Davidson must have faith in Dunlop’s quality and tire technology to offer such a wide array of Dunlop tires. These tires can be identified by short codes and come in a range of sizes, with white or black walls and are part of the ‘tire series’, ‘signature tires’ or ‘performance tires’. One of the latest tire series includes the D407, D408F, D402, D401 and K591 tires (although there are many other types). Each are specifically designed for a purpose - the D407 (offered on the Softail, Dyna and Touring models) and the D408 (offered on Softail and Touring models) feature advanced multi-tread technology, incorporating a tough compound in the centre of the tread that remains cooler to provide better stability, superior traction when braking and lateral-grip compounds to enhance the grip when taking corners. These tires have a multi-layer reinforcement to provide durability and strength at all speeds, as well as lateral grooves to relinquish water from the contact area on wet surfaces.
